How It Works

To illustrate the use case, we will refer to a made-up project management app, "Otto."

Step 1. Set up tracking for user activity

Install Intempt's SDK:

Integrate Intempt's SDK into your website to track user activities and attributes. Follow the Javascript SDK guide to ensure proper setup.

Step 2. Create an event to track the user's industry

Create or edit the "Book a demo" page:

Add an industry field to the "Book a demo" page. This step is unnecessary if you already have an industry option for this page.

Track the industry selection:

To track the event, use the track or record method via Intempt's Javascript SDK. Ensure that you add "Industry" as a user attribute.

Step 3. Set up client-side personalizations

Personalization allows you to deliver targeted content to users based on their industry. In this case, we will create multiple experiences tailored to different industries.

Create a new personalization campaign:

Go to the Personalizations section and create a new client-side personalization campaign named "Dynamic Testimonials".

Add experiences for each industry:

Create multiple experiences within the campaign, each targeting a different industry using the visual editor. Ensure that targeting conditions are based on the industry attribute.

  • Set Targeting: Set the targeting condition to industry=SaaS.

Retail industry:

  • Edit Headline: Change the headline to "Transforming Financial Services".
  • Edit Quote: Change the quote to the Financial Services testimonial.
  • Add Image: Include the logo of Finance Pros.
  • Set Targeting: Set the targeting condition to industry=Financial services.

Step 4. Configure targeting and display settings

Set targeting conditions:

For each experience, configure the audience targeting based on the relevant industry attribute:

  • SaaS Industry: Target users with industry=SaaS
  • Retail Industry: Target users with industry=Retail
  • Financial Services: Target users with industry=Financial services

Define display rules:

Specify when and where the personalized testimonials will show (e.g., landing page visits with a specific industry attribute).

Set display frequency to ensure personalized content is shown consistently to targeted users.

Step 5. Launch and monitor the personalization campaign

Start the personalization campaign:

Once all experiences are configured, start the personalization campaign in Intempt.

Monitor performance:

Use Intempt's Personalization Analytics to track key metrics:

  • Unique views: Number of users who viewed the personalized content.
  • Conversion: Number of users who completed a desired action (e.g., signup or purchase).
  • Conversion %: Percentage of targeted users who converted.
  • Lift: Improvement in conversion rate compared to the control group.

Based on analytics, refine experiences, adjust targeting criteria, or test different testimonials to improve performance.

Intempt captures it through user interactions. For example, when someone fills out a "Book a Demo" form with an industry dropdown, you track that selection as a user attribute. Once Intempt knows their industry, it can show them the matching testimonial experience on any page they visit.

No, that's the beauty of it. You create one page and set up multiple experiences within a single personalization campaign. Each experience targets a different industry and swaps in the relevant testimonial content. One page, many variations, all managed dynamically without building separate static pages.

You can change the headline, the quote itself, the customer name and title, the company name, logos, and any supporting visuals. For example, SaaS visitors might see "Trusted by Leading SaaS Companies" with a quote about real-time collaboration, while retail visitors see "Empowering Retail Teams" with a quote about inventory management.

When creating each experience, you set the targeting condition based on the industry attribute. For SaaS, set "industry equals SaaS." For retail, set "industry equals Retail." For financial services, set "industry equals Financial services." Each experience only displays to users matching that condition.

You'll need a small bit of code to capture the industry selection from your form and send it to Intempt as a user attribute. Once that's set up, everything else happens in the visual editor. If you already have an industry field on your forms, you just need to make sure it's being tracked properly.

You can run A/B tests within your experiences. Try two different quotes or two different customer stories for the same industry segment and see which one drives more conversions. Let the data tell you which testimonial resonates best with that audience.
