Blu Chat on Desktop

Blu Chat on the Intempt desktop app is a floating panel you can open from any screen, so you can ask a question or pick up an earlier conversation without leaving what you're doing.

Overview

Blu Chat on the Intempt desktop app is a floating panel, not a page you navigate to. It stays available above whatever screen you're on, so you can open it, ask something, and get back to what you were doing.

📘 Good to know

Blu Chat isn't a separate window in the desktop app. The panel opens as an overlay on top of the screen you're already using, and closing it just collapses it back down. It doesn't take you anywhere else.

How it works

Opening and closing the panel

When it's closed, Blu Chat sits as a small floating button reading "Ask anything..." near the bottom of the window, clear of the sidebar. Click it to open the panel. You can also drag it by that same button to reposition it if it's covering something you need to see.

Inside the panel, the header has a drag handle, the Blu mascot, and a label showing you're chatting about your current project. A close button (X) collapses the panel back to its floating button.

Sending a message

Type into the composer at the bottom of the panel and press Enter to send. Shift+Enter adds a new line instead of sending. While Blu is preparing a reply, the composer disables itself and shows "Blu is thinking..." with an animating ellipsis until the response finishes streaming in.

The composer's toolbar also has buttons labeled Recipes, Visual edits, and Tools, plus buttons for adding context and voice input.

Chat history

Click the history icon in the header to switch the panel from the chat view to a searchable list of your past conversations. Type in the search field to filter by title, or clear it to see everything again. Selecting a conversation from this list loads it back into the chat view. If the list is empty, whether because you have no past conversations or your search didn't match anything, it shows an empty state instead.

Before you've sent your first message, the panel shows a home view instead of a blank composer: a greeting ("Hi, ask anything") and a list of your recent conversations, which you can select the same way as from the history view.

Getting started

  1. Click the collapsed "Ask anything..." button to open Blu Chat.
  2. Type your message in the composer and press Enter to send it.
  3. Wait for Blu's reply. The composer re-enables once the response finishes streaming in.
  4. Click the history icon to browse or search past conversations.
  5. Select a past conversation to load it back into the chat view.
  6. Click the X to close the panel. It collapses back to the floating button.

Use cases

  1. Asking a quick question without switching screens. The panel opens on top of whatever you're already looking at, so you don't have to navigate away first.
  2. Picking up an earlier conversation. Open chat history and select a past conversation instead of re-explaining context from scratch.
  3. Finding a specific past chat. Search your chat history by keyword when you don't remember which day you asked something.
  4. Keeping the panel out of the way until you need it. Leave it collapsed to its floating button and open it only when you have a question.
  5. Repositioning the panel. Drag it by its header if it's sitting over part of the screen you're working in.
