Managing Avatar Emotions

The Emotions picker on a custom avatar's detail page generates up to 9 additional renders of that character, each showing a different emotion, without leaving the page.

Overview

Every custom avatar's detail page has an Emotions section. It lets you generate extra renders of that character showing a specific emotion, on top of its main reference image and the three fixed reference slots (Three-quarter, Full body, Product in hand). This section only appears for custom avatars. Built-in presets don't have it.

How it works

Opening the Emotions picker

Go to Avatars in the console sidebar (/avatars) and open a custom avatar, not a built-in preset. The left panel of the character detail page shows an Emotions section below the reference images, with the hint "Pick a preset or describe your own."

Picking a preset emotion

The Emotions section shows 10 fixed chips. Hovering over a chip shows the mood it renders:

PresetMood shown on hover
Explosive ragePrimal scream at biological maximum
Manic laughterFull convulsive laugh at peak
Villainous gleeCold predatory smile
Total shockFrozen, eyes blown wide
Extreme fearPrimal terror, recoiling
Joyful defianceWild exhilaration above the city
Pure angerCold, controlled rage
Raw griefDevastating loss, single tear
Cold intimidationWeaponized stillness
Extreme shameCrushing self-revulsion

Clicking a chip sends "Add a render: <preset label>" to Blu right away, no confirmation step in between. Blu, Intempt's AI chat panel, opens scoped to the avatar and generates the render using the character's existing metadata for identity consistency.

Describing a custom emotion

If none of the 10 presets fit, select Custom… next to the chips. A prompt asks you to describe the render, for example "her at sunset golden hour," "in a coffee shop," or "studio black & white." Whatever you type gets sent to Blu the same way as a preset pick: "Add a render: <your description>."

📘 Good to know

The Custom option isn't limited to emotions. Use it for lighting, setting, or wardrobe variations too, anything you'd describe as a render request.

The 9-render cap

Every character caps out at 9 renders total, counting every emotion and custom render generated so far. Once a character reaches 9 renders, the preset chips and the Custom button gray out and stop responding to clicks.

Where the render ends up

Once Blu finishes generating, the render appears in the character's Renders gallery, labeled with the text you clicked or typed. The gallery's header shows a running count, for example "6 / 9."

Use cases

  1. Building a matched creative set. Generate several of the 10 presets for one character so a campaign has coverage across different emotional tones without re-describing the character each time.
  2. Covering a specific ad placement. Pick "Joyful defiance" for a launch announcement or "Total shock" for a before/after post, matched to what that placement needs.
  3. Requesting a mood the presets don't cover. Use Custom to describe something like "confident and relaxed" when none of the 10 fixed labels fit.
  4. Comparing similar presets before picking one. Hover over "Pure anger" and "Explosive rage" to check the mood text before choosing, since the labels alone don't make the difference obvious.
  5. Tracking how close a character is to the cap. Check the Renders gallery's count before starting a new campaign so you don't hit the 9-render limit mid-project.
  6. Varying a render's setting instead of its emotion. Use Custom for a specific location or lighting style, since the free-form option isn't restricted to emotional expressions.
