Expectations at different levels

We evaluate people on three categories. These apply during hiring and throughout your time at Intempt. They connect directly to our 9 Rare Traits and Values.

📊 The three categories

📋 Responsibilities

This covers roughly 80% of what you do: tasks, skills, and knowledge specific to your role. Responsibilities look different for an engineer vs. a marketer vs. a designer. They're scoped to the job description. At every level, effective use of AI tools (Claude Code, claude.ai, Lovable, Cursor) is expected - output quality and volume should reflect working with AI, not without it.

🔥 Drive

Same for everyone, regardless of role. This is about grit, motivation, eagerness, proactiveness, and mentality. Do you push through when things get hard? Do you take initiative without being asked?

🧬 Fit

Also the same for everyone. Fit is about your DNA matching Intempt DNA. Do your values align with ours? Do you thrive in the kind of environment we build?

📈 How growth works

Growth looks different per area and per trait. You can be level 3 on one point and level 1 on another. That's normal. Nobody is uniformly excellent at everything.

This framework helps with giving feedback, receiving feedback, and processing feedback. When someone tells you where you stand on a specific trait, you have a shared language for what "better" looks like. See our Learning & Development page for how growth plans work in practice.

We use the same categories when hiring. If you're interviewing at Intempt, this is what we're evaluating.

🪜 Leveling framework

Five levels across all teams. Your level reflects scope of impact and independence, not years of experience. You can be L3 in one area and L1 in another.

LevelTitleWhat it looks like
L0Associate / InternPaired with a mentor. Completes structured tasks with close review. Learns tools, workflows, and codebase foundations.
L1JuniorDelivers defined tasks with light guidance. Uses AI tools daily. Asks good questions, ships working code.
L2MidOwns features end-to-end. Runs AI-augmented workflows independently. Mentors L0-L1s. Ships quality work consistently.
L3SeniorDrives architecture and design decisions. Builds multi-agent workflows. Unblocks others. Scope: full systems, not single features.
L4Staff / LeadSets technical direction across teams. Pushes AI adoption org-wide. Multiplier - makes people and agents around them better.

Progression happens when you consistently operate at the next level for 3+ quarters. See Compensation for how levels connect to pay.
