Intempt Handbook

How design works

Design is its own department: the brand, every surface's visual system, product design, and motion. Owned by Aurobind Venu. Measure, don't assert; render it and look at it.

A lighthouse working the dark

Design at Intempt is its own department, not a service desk inside another team. It owns how everything we ship looks and feels: the brand, the surfaces a visitor touches, the product, and the motion that makes it feel inevitable. It is owned by Aurobind Venu.

What design owns

  • The brand core - the locked values (color, type, spacing, the visual voice) that every surface inherits. It is the source of truth; surfaces are brought to match it, not the other way around.
  • Surface visual systems - the Web, Social, Docs, App, Desktop, Mobile, and CLI surface contracts.
  • Product design - the console and app screens, the design system, and the UI source of truth.
  • Motion and illustration - the craft that makes the product feel fast and inevitable.

How design work gets made

Five gates, the same way every other department grades itself:

  1. Taste from the product, identity from the core. Pull the real look from where it ships; pull the brand from the locked core.
  2. Measure, never assert. A claim about contrast, spacing, or coverage carries the number that produced it.
  3. Never lower a threshold to go green.
  4. Render it and look at it. Truth about a surface exists at render time, not in the spec.
  5. Do not grade your own work. Craft is signed off by someone who did not make it.

How it connects

Design is first-class so that craft is owned, not borrowed. It serves every other team: the surfaces Product & Growth owns, the ad creative Marketing runs, and the brand Sales carries into enterprise. One department holds the standard; everyone else inherits it.

How it is graded

Design grades the craft in the unseen, weekly, alongside the engineering, product, and marketing health scores: is the brand core enforced, do the surfaces match it, and did anything off-brand ship. A gate that cannot be measured is not a gate.
